Kurinuki Clay Carving Class - Session 2

  • 71 Rydale Road West Ryde NSW 2114 Australia (map)

With Bernadette Huang

$110.00

Transform a block of clay into a spontaneous, textural form through the clay carving technique of Kurinuki.

Kurinuki (which in Japanese means 'to hollow') is a pottery technique of carving a vessel from a single block of clay. This technique is all about embracing spontaneity and imperfection while creating your sculptural forms.

In this beginner-friendly class, you will learn the basics of Kurinuki and get to make two of your own pieces. These will be dried, fired and glazed for collection at a later date (approximately four to six weeks later).

Pieces made in this class are food safe, dishwasher safe and completely functional. They will act as perfect vessels for your favourite beverage once they have been glazed and fired.

At the end of your class, you'll be equipped with all the skills needed to continue this mindful craft in your own time.
