Come learn how to monoprint with Rowan Sivyer. Gelli printing is a form of monoprinting that uses flexible printing plates to create textures and layers of colour. It is easy, fun and ADDICTIVE!
Tangible has been selected for the Open Program of this year’s Head On Photo Festival. The series contrasts the fleeting, screen-based nature of modern devices with the slow, physical process of 19th-century wet plate photography to reflect on mental health, presence, and the human need for tactile connection.
Learn the fundamentals of 19th-century wet plate collodion photography in this hands-on course, where we’ll create glass or metal plates from start to finish. From pouring collodion and sensitizing plates to exposing, developing, and varnishing, you'll experience the full process and leave with your own unique analog portraits.
Learn the art of salt and albumen printing—19th-century contact printing processes known for their rich tones and organic textures. Using either wet plate collodion negatives or digital transparencies, participants will explore hand-coating paper, UV exposure, and traditional development techniques to create luminous, tactile photographic prints.
